Middle School Science Teacher (full-time)
San Diego Jewish Academy seeks full time thoughtful, energetic, and passionate teachers who understand science as a dynamic process, are committed to cultivating curiosity in their students, and inspire a love of exploring the natural and physical world. SDJA MUS Science Dept Mission Statement
The mission of the science department at SDJA is to promote scientific literacy. We want our students to be curious about both the physical and living world. Classes are designed so that students focus on big ideas in science, and develop critical thinking skills, the ability to design an experiment, collect, analyze, and interpret data, and support a conclusion with scientific evidence. Through lab inquiry, scientific observation, reading scientific material, writing about science, and scientific problem solving, students come to understand science as a process for investigation and discovery.
You will be kept busy with:
- Planning and delivering daily classroom instruction.
- Administering formative and summative student assessments to inform instruction.
- Documenting student progress and communicating progress with families.
You’re good at:
- Collaboration and teamwork with a focus on innovation and creativity.
- Using technology to enhance the classroom experience.
- Fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Independent decision-making.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Interpreting data to inform instruction.

- Passion for teaching and learning
- High level of initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to team openly with others.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience of classroom teaching, preferably at the middle school level
- Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
Salary Range & Benefits Package:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,300 - $85,000 The offer to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and years of experience; training; practical knowledge; and education.
