A teacher's main role is to provide educational activities that enable students to reach their full potential and develop necessary skills for society.

Instructional Strategies

  • Design and implement lesson plans aligned with the charter's curriculum, reviewed by the dean of academics
  • Modify lessons to accommodate different learning styles
  • Follow guidelines from the California Department of Education, charter policies, and regulations
  • Use data from student assessments to inform instruction
  • Collaborate with special education staff on IEPs
  • Coordinate with staff on instructional goals and methods
  • Manage teacher aide and volunteer assignments
  • Integrate technology to enhance instruction

Growth and Development

  • Assist students in improving study habits
  • Use assessments to evaluate success
  • Manage extracurricular activities as assigned
  • Sponsor approved outside activities
  • Model positive behavior supporting the school's mission

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Prepare the classroom to promote learning and development
  • Manage student behavior according to the student handbook
  • Ensure safety and proper use of resources
  • Contribute to selection of books, equipment, and materials

Communication

  • Build rapport with parents, students, and staff through conferences
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community
  • Communicate information clearly and accurately

Salary: $61,000 - $85,000 per year

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in relevant subject area
  • California teaching credential or equivalent
  • Highly qualified in core subjects as per NCLB requirements

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
