Haverhill Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Interventionist for Whittier Middle School in Haverhill, MA. The role focuses on identifying reading deficiencies, supporting classroom teachers, and guiding Tier I–III interventions within the ELA framework.

The position requires Massachusetts Reading certification with SEI endorsement and a background in literacy instruction. Position aligns with annual salary scales and offers robust benefits; prior reading education is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified as a Teacher of Reading by the Massachusetts Department of Education, SEI Endorsement Required.
• Ed. in Reading, preferred.
• Demonstrated classroom teaching experience.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts ELA/Literacy Framework.
• Must have skills and dispositions to collaborate with teachers to improve literacy instruction.

Responsibilities

• Serves as liaison between ELA Supervisor, Literacy Coach and classroom teachers.
• Identifies reading deficiencies and prescribes remediation plans.
• Administers and analyzes progress monitoring and tests.
• Plans and delivers Tier I–III interventions in literacy.
• Maintains pupil progress reports and communicates with parents.
