Job summary

Holyoke Public Schools is hiring a Literacy Interventionist to support at-risk students with literacy interventions and progress monitoring. The role focuses on Tier II/III instruction with data-driven planning and collaboration with teachers and families.

Qualified candidates have three years of K-8 teaching experience, a MA teaching license in ELA/Reading or elementary licensure, and ideally a Master’s degree. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of successful K-8 teaching experience (urban experience a plus).
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Possess or obtain a Massachusetts teaching license in ELA/Reading or elementary licensure.
• Master’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
• Deep understanding of Science of Reading and structured literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality literacy instruction to individual students and small groups.
• Uses data and screeners to tailor instruction to grade level.
• Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families on best practices.
• Leads Tier II/III interventions and monitors progress.
• Maintains data-based documentation of student performance.
• Communicates student progress to teachers and families.
• Assists with identifying students for intervention groups.
• Participates in meetings about student placement and progress.
• Provides diagnostic assessments as needed.
• Works with Academic Department for training and planning.
