Job summary

Mead School District is seeking Para Educators for the Developmental Learning Center at Prairie View Elementary in Spokane. Positions run Monday–Friday with a 6.25-hour day from 8:45 am to 3:30 pm, immediately starting.

The role focuses on supporting students with disabilities and implementing IEP plans. Responsibilities include instructional support, data collection, collaboration with teachers, and ensuring safety and proper behavior in classrooms and common areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Para educators shall be highly qualified upon hire as defined by state law.

Responsibilities

• Supports teachers in meeting instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities.
• Provide instructional support in small or large groups to reinforce learning objectives.
• Assist teachers with activities such as observing, recording data, and classroom preparation.
• Follow plans and procedures as directed by administrators or certificated staff.
• Maintain safety, decorum, and order in various school areas.
• Collaborate with Special Education staff and other para educators.
• Document fading of supports per student IEP and maintain organized records.
