Job summary

Fairbanks Middle School Librarian is sought to lead a full-time library program for grades 5–8, enhancing literacy, research, and technology skills within a welcoming space. The role reports to the building principal and partners with staff to support student achievement.

The librarian will coordinate at least two book fairs yearly, foster a love of reading, and help students develop information literacy and responsible digital citizenship. Immediate start preferred.

• Strong knowledge of literacy, research, information resources, and educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive library program aligned with curriculum and student needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, attractive, and welcoming library environment.
• Promote literacy and a love of reading through engaging activities, displays, programs, and events.
• Plan and coordinate a minimum of two book fairs each school year.
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction, research, information literacy, and technology integration.
• Teach students effective research, information-literacy, digital-literacy, and digital-citizenship skills.
• Select, organize, maintain, and evaluate library materials and resources.
• Maintain accurate circulation, inventory, and collection records.
