Position Type: Part‑time

Role Summary

AlRazi Academy is seeking a creative and organized Part‑Time Librarian to manage our media center and inspire a lifelong love of literacy in our students. This role serves a diverse age range, from introducing our youngest learners (PreK) to picture books to helping our middle schoolers (8th grade) develop research and information literacy skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Support: Conduct weekly library specials or scheduled visits for PreK‑8th grade classes, including read‑alouds and age‑appropriate lessons on library usage.
  • Collection Management: Curate, catalog, and maintain a diverse collection of books and digital resources that align with the school’s mission and curriculum.
  • Literacy Advocacy: Organize school‑wide literacy events, such as book fairs, "Read Across America" week, or local author visits.
  • Information Literacy: Guide middle school students in navigating digital databases, citing sources, and practicing responsible digital citizenship.
  • Library Environment: Maintain an inviting, organized, and inclusive space that encourages students to explore new genres and topics.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; coursework in Library Science, Education, or English preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in a school or library setting is highly valued.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills with both children and faculty.
    • Familiarity with library management software (e.g., Follett Destiny, Alexandria) or a willingness to learn.
    • Ability to work independently and manage a budget for new acquisitions.
  • Compliance: Ability to pass all state‑required background checks for working with minors.
