Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least two years of college preferred.
• Good health, emotional stability and enthusiasm.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Interest in helping students and working with youth.
• Understanding the role of a teacher.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Administer, score and record tests as recommended by the teacher.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work.
• Check notebooks, workbooks, and other written work.
• Observe and monitor student behavior and correct minor problems.
• Help supervise halls and playgrounds as directed by the principal.
• Manage or assist with the school store as directed by principal (if applicable).
• Provide car/bus duty supervision when directed by the principal.
• Serve as a substitute teacher for assigned teacher in emergencies.
• Participate in staff development training for teacher assistants and other training.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
• Input student data in the Power School system as needed.
