Job summary

Capital City is seeking Special Education / Inclusion Teachers to deliver instruction to English Learners and students with disabilities, using Universal Design for Learning and Explicit Instruction. You will collaborate with general education teachers through co-teaching and co-planning to differentiate learning and meet IEP goals.

Responsibilities include implementing Expeditionary Learning, Responsive Classroom practices, and developing accessible curricula with multiple entry points.

Qualifications

• Minimum required qualifications include a major in special education or equivalent 30 semester hours.
• District of Columbia teaching license in special education or English Learner/English as a Second Language certification.
• Two years of verifiable teaching experience as a teacher of record.
• One year as a Capital City support teacher and enrollment in a teacher education or certification program.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction to English Learners (ELs) and students with disabilities with differentiation using UDL and Explicit Instruction.
• Collaborate with general education teachers through co‑teaching and co‑planning to support differentiation for all students.
• Plan and implement learning expeditions with accessible content, ensuring inclusion for all students.

Education

Major in Special Education or equivalent (30 semester hours)

DC teaching license in special education or EL/ESL certification
