Job summary

Capital City seeks experienced, credentialed teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. High School Inclusion Teachers develop and deliver specialized instruction, maintain IEP records, and communicate with families to track progress.

A Master’s degree and 3+ years of full-time teaching are preferred, with a DC teaching license or eligibility. Teachers collaborate with teams, attend a summer institute, and participate in weekly professional development to support diverse learners across PK-12

Qualifications

• Master's degree and 3+ years of full-time teaching experience.
• Bachelor's degree and at least one of: major in education/field of instruction or 30 semester hours of credit.
• District of Columbia teaching license in field of instruction.
• Two years of verifiable teaching experience as a teacher of record.
• One year as a support teacher at Capital City and enrollment in a teacher education or certification program.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver specialized instruction in the classroom during academic periods designed to help students meet grade-level standards and achieve personal learning goals.
• Ensure IEP records are thorough, up to date, and well-organized, including: parent communication logs, progress reports, and assessments.
• Communicate with families regarding service delivery and progress.
• Assess student progress on IEP goals and use data to plan for instruction.
• Monitor English Learner progress on content and language targets and provide accommodations to ensure access to the curriculum.
• Develop and deliver specialized instruction designed to help students meet grade-level standards and achieve personal learning goals.
• Modify assessments and classwork for students in special populations.
• Meet and plan regularly with a team of teachers who teach the same students.
• Support students with completing portfolios and meeting passage requirements.
• Collaborate with staff and students to implement consistent structures and develop traditions.
• Attend a summer institute and weekly professional development with the entire staff.
