Job summary

Sylvania in Illinois seeks a Head Baseball Coach to lead the athletic program, overseeing preseason, season, and post-season duties while ensuring IHSA and NFHS compliance.

You will plan practices, recruit, manage uniforms and travel logistics, and communicate with parents and the Athletic Director to support student-athletes and their families.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a teaching certificate or ASEP certification and pass background check and drug test.
  • Be competent and understand the basic skills of the sport.

Responsibilities

  • Size and order uniforms and equipment.
  • Distribute uniforms and orders.
  • Plan, organize and coach summer practices.
  • Plan and receive administrative approval for several fundraisers to defray the athlete's costs.
  • Manage and distribute sports schedules.
  • Complete IHSA online rules review and NFHS concussion training.
  • Provide first aid for students; maintain emergency procedures.
  • Recruit.
  • Post information at the high school.
  • Hold informational meetings for parents and participants.
  • Keep track of applications, teacher recommendations, physical forms, proof of insurance and attendance for all applicants.
  • Set up and manage tryouts.
  • Follows all state, league, federation, building and District guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Hold parent meetings.
  • Order buses for the different activities.
  • Insure all in and out of district travel forms are complete.
  • Distribute uniforms and keep documentation by inventory or fine cards.
  • Manage, supervise and attend all practices.
  • Complete, maintain and insure compliance with IHSA eligibility rosters starting 5 days prior to the first eligible contest.
  • Submit a list of all transfer students participating to the Athletic Director to insure a transfer of eligibility is submitted to IHSA.
  • Attend all assigned games home and away including post season.
  • Organize additional fundraisers throughout the year.
  • Develop routines for assigned sports assemblies.
  • Develop materials and attend pep rally.
  • Organize and participate in all Homecoming activities.
  • Maintain activities that promote school spirit.
  • Keep accurate records throughout the season including attendance and athlete’s grades.
  • Stats must be current, up to date and reported within two days after contest to STL Prep Sports.
  • Attend to IHSA post season online forms.
  • Manage and discipline all athletes throughout the year.
  • Maintain parental contact.
  • Assist athlete with college recruitment process.

THE FOLLOWING EXTRA DUTY POSITION IS NOW BID: HEAD BASEBALL COACH

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a teaching certificate or be ASEP certified. Must pass ACUSD #11 background check and drug test and complete all necessary forms for employment.
  • Be competent and understand the basic skills of the individual sport.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage and discipline all athletes throughout the year. (with respect to their current sport)
    • Maintain parental contact.
    • Assist athlete with college recruitment process
  • Post-Season
    • Collect, wash, repair and store uniforms.
    • Complete inventory report and submit it within two weeks of the end of the season.
    • Submit fine cards to the Athletic Director’s Office Professional.
    • Assist with hosting an event to distribute letters and awards.
    • Assess and evaluate the year and plan improvements for the next year.
    • Attend Post Athletic Evaluation meeting with the Athletic Director.
