Job summary

Sylvania seeks an Assistant Football Coach to support the high school athletic program in Alton, IL. The role involves on- and off-season duties under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, including planning practices, organizing tryouts, and coordinating fundraisers and schedules.

Qualified applicants must have a teaching certificate or ASEP certification and pass a district background check and drug test.

Qualifications

• Must hold a teaching certificate or ASEP certification.
• Must pass ACUSD #11 background check and drug test and complete all employment forms.
• Understand the basic skills of the individual sport (football).

Responsibilities

• Preseason duties: size and order uniforms and equipment; distribute uniforms; plan, organize and coach summer practices; manage fundraisers to defray costs; manage schedules; complete IHSA rules review and NFHS concussion training; provide first aid; recruit.
• Tryouts: post information; hold informational meetings; track applications and forms; set up and manage tryouts.
• Season: follow all guidelines; hold parent meetings; arrange transportation; maintain eligibility rosters; manage uniforms; supervise practices; ensure transfer eligibility; attend games home/away; organize homecoming activities; maintain student-athlete records.
• Post-Season: collect, wash and store uniforms; complete inventory; submit fine cards; assist with letters and awards; assess year and plan improvements; attend evaluation meeting.

THE FOLLOWING EXTRA DUTY POSITION IS NOW BID: ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To perform on and off-season duties for the athletic program.

SUPERVISOR:

Director of Athletics

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a teaching certificate or be ASEP certified. Must pass ACUSD #11 background check and drug test and complete all necessary forms for employment.
• Be competent and understand the basic skills of the individual sport.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preseason
  • Size and order uniforms and equipment
  • Distribute uniforms and orders
  • Plan, organize and coach summer practices
  • Plan and receive administrative approval for several fundraisers to defray the athlete's costs
  • Manage and distribute sports schedules
  • Complete IHSA on line rules review and NFHS concussion training
  • Provide first aid for students; maintain emergency procedures

  • Keep track of applications, teacher recommendations, physical forms, proof of insurance and attendance for all applicants

  • Follows all state, league, federation, building and District guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Hold parent meetings
  • Order buses for the different activities.
  • Insure all in and out of district travel forms are complete.
  • Distribute uniforms and keep documentation by inventory or fine cards.
  • Manage, supervise and attend all practices.
  • Complete, maintain and insure compliance with IHSA eligibility rosters starting 5 days prior to the first eligible contest.
  • Submit a list of all transfer students participating to the Athletic Director to insure a transfer of eligibility is submitted to IHSA. This should be done within the first two days of practice.
  • Attend all assigned games home and away including post season.
  • Organize additional fundraisers throughout the year.
  • Develop routines for assigned sports assemblies.
  • Develop materials and attend pep rally.
  • Organize and participate in all Homecoming activities. (Fall Sports)
  • Maintain activities that promote school spirit.
  • Keep accurate records throughout the season including attendance and athlete’s grades.
  • Stats must be current, up to date and reported within two days after contest to STL Prep Sports.
  • Attend to IHSA post season online forms.
  • Manage and discipline all athletes throughout the year. (with respect to their current sport)
  • Maintain parental contact.
  • Assist athlete with college recruitment process
• Post-Season
  • Collect, wash, repair and store uniforms.
  • Complete inventory report and submit it within two weeks of the end of the season.
  • Submit fine cards to the Athletic Director’s Office Professional.
  • Assist with hosting an event to distribute letters and awards.
  • Assess and evaluate the year and plan improvements for the next year.
  • Attend Post Athletic Evaluation meeting with the Athletic Director.
