Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an individual to perform on and off-season duties for the high school athletic program. The role includes planning and coaching summer practices, organizing tryouts, and managing equipment and schedules.

Responsibilities span preseason, season, and post-season activities, with emphasis on compliance with IHSA rules, safety procedures, recruitment, and parent communication. A teaching certificate or ASEP certification is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Preseason: Size and order uniforms and equipment.
• Distribute uniforms and orders.
• Plan, organize and coach summer practices.
• Plan and receive administrative approval for fundraisers to defray costs.
• Manage and distribute sports schedules and related records.
• Complete IHSA online rules review and NFHS concussion training.
• Provide first aid for students; maintain emergency procedures.
• Recruit athletes for programs.
• Tryouts: Post information at the high school and hold informational meetings for parents/participants.
• Keep track of applications, recommendations, forms, insurance, and attendance for all applicants.
• Set up and manage tryouts.
• Season: Follow all guidelines; hold parent meetings; arrange transportation; distribute uniforms; manage travel forms; maintain records and documentation.
• Attend all practices; supervise athletes; ensure eligibility rosters are current.
• Post-season: Collect and store uniforms; complete inventory; assist with letters and awards; plan improvements for next year.
• Attend Post Athletic Evaluation meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all state, league, federation, building and District guidelines, procedures, and policies.

  • Order buses for the different activities.
  • Insure all in and out of district travel forms are complete.
  • Distribute uniforms and keep documentation by inventory or fine cards.
  • Manage, supervise and attend all practices.
  • Complete, maintain and insure compliance with IHSA eligibility rosters starting 5 days prior to the first eligible contest.
  • Submit a list of all transfer students participating to the Athletic Director to insure a transfer of eligibility is submitted to IHSA. This should be done within the first two days of practice.
  • Attend all assigned games home and away including post season.
  • Organize additional fundraisers throughout the year.
  • Develop routines for assigned sports assemblies.
  • Develop materials and attend pep rally.
  • Organize and participate in all Homecoming activities. (Fall Sports)
  • Maintain activities that promote school spirit.
  • Keep accurate records throughout the season including attendance and athlete’s grades.
  • Stats must be current, up to date and reported within two days after contest to STL Prep Sports.
  • Attend to IHSA post season online forms.
  • Manage and discipline all athletes throughout the year. (with respect to their current sport)
  • Maintain parental contact.
  • Assist athlete with college recruitment process
• Post-Season
  • Collect, wash, repair and store uniforms.
  • Complete inventory report and submit it within two weeks of the end of the season.
  • Submit fine cards to the Athletic Director’s Office Professional.
  • Assist with hosting an event to distribute letters and awards.
  • Assess and evaluate the year and plan improvements for the next year.
  • Attend Post Athletic Evaluation meeting with the Athletic Director.
