Job summary

College Achieve Public Schools in Paterson, NJ is seeking a proactive Behavior Interventionist to support a positive, structured school culture at an urban middle school. You will work with leaders and staff to address behavioral challenges, reinforce expectations, and build meaningful relationships with students.

The role focuses on classroom management, crisis de-escalation, data-informed discipline, and professional development for staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Preferred).
• Minimum one year of experience in an urban school setting or charter environment (preferred).
• Proven experience in student management, behavior intervention, and crisis de-escalation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent, fair, and positive discipline system in collaboration with school administration.
• Serve as the primary contact for behavioral crisis intervention and acute student issues.
• Support teachers in managing classroom behavior and uphold high expectations for all students.
• Monitor classrooms and hallways to reinforce school culture and expectations.
• Supervise meals, transitions, enrichment, and dismissal to ensure order and safety.
• Lead behavior-related parent meetings and assist in developing behavior intervention plans.
• Oversee in-school suspensions and after-school detention with intervention support.
• Maintain confidential discipline records of conferences and incidents.
• Provide staff development on student discipline and behavioral strategies.
• Present weekly/monthly reports highlighting behavioral trends and areas for improvement.
