Job summary

KIPP Capital Region in Albany, NY seeks a dedicated Behavior Interventionist to lead behavioral support for students, guiding teachers and collaborating with support staff to create a safe, structured learning environment.

The role focuses on assisting students with IEPs and behavior plans, reinforcing positive conduct, and coordinating with parents for effective strategies within our high-performing charter school network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; HS diploma acceptable with relevant experience.
• Experience in schools or urban communities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, provide, and supervise behavioral activities for students.
• Guide teachers to meet the needs of students, especially those with disabilities.
• Manage and reduce risk within the classroom with lead teacher support.
• Establish a positive, structured school culture with the Dean of Scholars/Students.
• Support students with IEPs, 504s, and behavior plans to succeed.
• Implement school-wide behavior plans and monitor behavior.
• Collaborate with parents and school staff to support student behavior.
• Monitor hallways, restroom checks, and after-school detentions.
• Provide tutorial assistance and monitor classwork during ISS.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred
