Job summary

Farmington Municipal Schools is seeking a Middle School Athletic Coordinator to lead and coordinate athletic programs for 7th and 8th graders. The role works closely with the Middle School Principal and the feeder High School Athletic Director to ensure alignment with district standards and to promote high academic achievement and sportsmanship.

The coordinator role is in addition to teaching duties and is compensated via stipend.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and valid NM teaching/coaching license.
• First Aid / CPR Certification.
• NMAA coaching licenses/courses or ability to obtain.
• Experience in middle school or high school coaching preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program Leadership & Staff Support assisting in directing middle school athletic programs.
• Promotes inclusive culture, academic achievement, and high-quality athletic programming.
• Organizes professional development for middle school coaches aligned with district goals.
• Maintains files on rules, bylaws, and district/NMAA requirements for sports.
• Investigates rule/policy infractions and advises the principal and AD.
• Schedules daily operations, facilities, and home events for grades 7–8.
• Arranges event workers and oversees proper compensation processes.
• Oversees concession operations and coordinates transportation for away events.
• Ensures schedules are entered in the platform and verified weekly with opponents.
• Ensures hospitality and proper accommodations for visiting teams and officials.
• Coordinates facility usage requests and related paperwork.
• Verifies student eligibility with coaches and registrar.
• Ensures proper medical clearance, emergency contacts, and insurance forms.
• Maintains injury records and reports per district procedures.
• Promotes drug, alcohol, tobacco-free lifestyle messaging.
• Plans and manages athletic resources, budget, facilities, and scheduling.
• Coordinates with principals, maintenance, and district ops for facility safety.
• Manages procurement, inventory, and apparel for 7th–8th teams.
• Coordinates clubs and activities as assigned and promotes sportsmanship.
• Acts as spokesperson for middle school athletics in the community.
