Job summary

Fall Group Leader (Middle School, Brooklyn) for NIA is seeking an enthusiastic supervisor for our after-school program. You will oversee a group of students, ensure safety, manage arrival, snack, transitions, activities, and dismissal, and help implement COMPASS models and positive youth development.

Work closely with teachers and Activity Specialists to maintain a supportive environment, follow licensor regulations, and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have at least 2 years of direct experience working with children.
• Associate’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework in education, youth development, or related field is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and professionalism are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive care and supervision to assigned group of students.
• Lead group through daily procedures (arrival, snack, transitions, activities, dismissal).
• Develop understanding of COMPASS models and positive youth development.
• Ensure supervision according to licensor regulations at all times.
• Take attendance and manage sign-out sheets; dismiss students to approved adults.
• Assist with activity facilitation per approved lesson plans; support learning and behavior needs.
• Collaborate with Activity Specialists, Teachers, and Youth Workers.
• Maintain clean spaces and ensure safe program operation; comply with safety drills.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and funder/licensing compliance.
