Job summary

King Philip Regional School District is seeking a School Adjustment Counselor for King Philip Regional Middle School in Norfolk, MA. The role focuses on counseling services to students in accordance with state and federal laws, including IEPs and 504 plans.

Responsibilities include conducting psychosocial assessments, applying DSM criteria, providing CBT and short-term interventions, and coordinating with DMH, DSS, and other supports.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education, Counseling, or related field required.
  • Strong background in education with emphasis on special education and the needs of individuals with disabilities.
  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching Certificate, School Adjustment Counselor.
  • Other mental health professional licensure and experiences preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Write psychosocial assessments and apply DSM diagnostic criteria.
  • Network with state agencies and community supports for students and families.
  • Provide cognitive-behavioral and short-term solution-focused treatment interventions.
  • Facilitate adolescent groups and social skills training.
  • Develop and measure treatment goals and objectives.
  • Assist in analyzing data to develop behavioral support plans.
  • Collaborate with administrators and staff to support IEP/504 goals.
  • Lead TEAM meetings and build school-based support teams.
