Springfield Public Schools SEZP is hiring a Middle School Adjustment Counselor to support grades 6-8. The role, based in Springfield, MA, requires a DESE license appropriate for School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor and a bachelor’s degree.

Starting August 2026, salary ranges up to $96,864.45 depending on experience. Responsibilities include delivering standards-aligned instruction, building belonging, collaborating with staff, and engaging families.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the middle or high school level.
• Valid Massachusetts DESE license in the appropriate subject and grade level (School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor) required; licensure waiver may be considered.
• Demonstrated ability to support a range of learners through strong instruction and relationship-building.
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction with research-based curriculum and effective instructional strategies.
• Use data and formative assessments to adjust instruction and promote academic growth.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students grounded in consistency, respect, and high expectations.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues, including participation in co-teaching teams and professional learning communities.
• Engage families as partners through regular communication and shared problem-solving.
