Job summary

Community Youth Center of San Francisco seeks a Program Specialist (High School Academic Tutor/Behavioral Coach) to provide tutoring, educational support, and behavioral coaching to youth during school hours and after school.

The role collaborates with teachers, counselors, and staff to identify at-risk students, supports social-emotional learning, and helps design engaging enrichment activities while maintaining a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields preferred plus 2 years of proven experience in youth development or academic support.
• Knowledge of youth development practices and experience planning enrichment activities for youth.
• Experience in classroom management, conflict mediation, and restorative practices is a plus.
• Experience working with diverse youth and families is a plus.
• Ability to develop, implement, and organize programs and special events.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
• Capacity to multi-task, work independently, and meet strict programmatic deadlines.
• Good technology skills (Google Docs & Sheets, MS Office, etc.).
• Bilingual in Spanish and Cantonese/Mandarin is highly preferred.
• Able to lift or move at least 25lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group academic tutoring in core subjects and behavioral coaching.
• Coordinate with school day teachers, counselors, and after-school staff to identify high needs students.
• Provide 1:1 light case management for social-emotional learning and behavioral health support.
• Train and support high school volunteer tutors.
• Create incentive plans to engage and retain students.
• Develop skill-building and project-based learning activities for youth.
• Support outreach and marketing to recruit youth for programs.
• Maintain a positive, safe learning environment and manage behavior using restorative practices.
• Collaborate with school leadership, partners, and faculty to align programs with school goals.
• Communicate progress with parents/caregivers and maintain positive relationships with families.
• Assist with data collection and reporting for funders and program improvement.
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training.
