Remote for qualified candidates in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia. 7+ years in commercial underwriting with leadership experience; Bachelor's degree preferred. Salary $140,000–$175,000+ with comprehensive benefits.

Our client is looking to add a Middle Market Underwriting Manager to support their continued growth throughout the Southeast region. This person will lead a team of Commercial Lines Middle Market Underwriting Specialists while helping drive profitable growth, underwriting quality, and strong agency relationships throughout the region. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background across Commercial lines along with proven leadership experience within a commercial underwriting environment.

This position is remote for qualified candidates that reside in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virgina.

• Provide technical guidance and support for the Middle Market P&C division.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of commercial underwriting professionals.
• Oversee underwriting quality, risk selection, pricing, and overall portfolio performance.
• Partner with underwriting staff to achieve profitable growth and production objectives.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agency partners.

Requirements

• 7+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience.
• Underwriting management/leadership experience required.
• Experience with Commercial Property, Casualty, and Workers’ Compensation business.
• Strong knowledge of the independent agency distribution model.
• Proven ability to coach and develop underwriting professionals.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and decision-making skills.
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Industry designations are a plus.

Salary/Benefits

• $140,000–$175,000+ annual base salary, depending on experience.
