Job summary

Dublin City Schools is seeking a Custodian for Coffman High School (Mid Shift 11:30am–8:00pm) to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, skill in repairs, painting, and cleaning, and the ability to communicate courteously. You will maintain floors, desks, chalkboards, and restrooms, report hazards, and support building security and daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in general repair, painting, cleaning, and operating cleaning equipment.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
• A neat appearance.
• Ability to carry out assigned duties.
• Alternatives to above qualifications may be accepted by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Notifies head custodian, maintenance supervisor or principal of emergencies.
• Complies with laws and regulations for maintenance, repair and operation of equipment (OSHA).
• Shovels, salts walks, driveways, and steps as appropriate.
• Checks daily to ensure exit doors are open and panic bolts work during occupancy.
• Cleans assigned classrooms daily and dusts furniture as time permits.
• Keeps floors and corridors in a clean and attractive condition.
• Disinfects toilet and lunch room floors daily; cleans sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
• Washes windows inside and outside as needed.
• Assists in grounds maintenance; keeps grounds free from rubbish.
• Cleans chalkboards weekly.
• Makes minor building repairs as capable.
• Reports major repairs to head custodian.
• Reports damage to school property promptly.
• Remains on school premises during scheduled hours and after hours as required.
• Opens/closes building; ensures doors and windows are secured and lights off.
• Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel.
• Moves furniture/equipment as directed.
• Complies with storage, use and disposal of trash and hazardous material (OSHA).
• Reports safety hazards and misconduct; maintains confidentiality.
• Exhibits professional behavior and judgment.
• Represents as a role model for students.
• Adheres to ethical principles and democratic values.
• Other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
