MCHENRY COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 15 seeks a Mid Shift Custodian for Duker Elementary School. Reports to the Custodial Supervisor. Terms: 12 Month, Full Time, 10:00 am – 6:30 pm, Monday–Friday.

Start ASAP; location at Chauncey Duker Elementary School. Requirements: high school diploma or equivalent, valid Illinois driver's license, ability to travel within the district. Prior school custodian experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean the building and secure premises, including seasonal grounds duties.
• Perform ongoing maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial equipment.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.
• Work occasionally outside scheduled hours.
• Follow oral and written instructions and set priorities to work independently.
• Meet deadlines and maintain records of work practices and projects.
• Collaborate with others and maintain effective working relationships.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Custodial Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

• High school diploma or equivalent.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for cleaning, securing the building, and seasonal grounds duties.
• Responsible for on-going maintenance and minor repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial equipment.
• Ability to read/interpret safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance instructions.
• Ability to work occasionally during non-scheduled work hours.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Set work priorities and work independently.
• Meet schedules and deadlines.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships, work cooperatively with others.
• Maintain records related to work practices and projects.
• Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.

PAY AND BENEFITS

• $17.50/hour. The District can provide additional credit to candidates who have prior work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings.Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day. Typically including strenuous and considerable physical exertion involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs.Ability to work on ladders of varying heights. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions.
