Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 is seeking a Mid Shift Custodian to maintain the cleanliness of district buildings, equipment, and furnishings, stock supplies, and ensure facilities are ready for the next shift. The role involves daily cleaning of classrooms and offices, floor care, waste removal, disinfecting surfaces, snow removal, and basic maintenance on equipment.

Mid Shift Custodian – The Mid Shift Custodian is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the District's buildings, equipment and furnishings. Ensures that cleaning supplies are stocked, equipment is functional and the building is operational and ready for the next shift.
Building Operations Supervisor
The individual must be able to perform each essential job duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or other abilities needed to perform the job at a fully acceptable level.
Skills: Ability to operate equipment and materials used in industrial maintenance; adhere to safety practices; and prepare and maintain accurate records. Communication skills include the ability to write reports and correspondence; clear and concise oral and written communication; reading and interpreting information; and displaying courtesy and tact with respect to others.
Knowledge: Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios); read manuals, write documents in prescribed formats, and present information. Knowledge of methods of industrial cleaning (including floor and carpet), basic tools for minor repairs, and safety practices and procedures.
Ability: Schedule activities, gather data, and consider multiple factors when using equipment; flexibility to work with others; work with data and operate equipment using standardized methods; work with diverse individuals; problem solve using data and equipment; meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
Work under direct supervision using standardized routines; may lead, guide, and/or coordinate others. Utilization of District resources is often required. There is ongoing opportunity to impact the organization's services.
The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those encountered while performing essential functions. Physical demands include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; frequent fine finger dexterity. Typical distribution: 5% sitting, 75% walking, 20% standing. Employee may frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 75 pounds. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions; occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
Maintain confidentiality regarding students; promote a harassment-free environment; ability to learn and operate upgraded machinery and equipment; comply with District and Board of Education policies.
Job-related experience preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Current and valid Illinois Driver's License. No other certificates or licenses specified.
Employment physical/TB test; Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background check.
Non Exempt per Board policy. Benefit Schedule A. Starting Hourly Rate: $19.00 / hour.
