Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus six years health care coding experience with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT and HCPCS; includes minimum two years of professional practice medical coding auditing or facility outpatient coding auditing.
  • Associate's degree plus eight years of experience as stated above.
  • High School Diploma/GED plus ten years of experience as stated above.
  • Certifications such as CCS, CPMA, CPC, COC, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA or CIC or similar will be considered as satisfying this requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create and implement education and training curriculum for new coding processes.
  • Create audit and quality review schedule for the fiscal year with contingency planning.
  • Review CMS changes and communicate impact to RI/HIM operations.
  • Conduct monthly audits to identify opportunities for improved documentation and coding.
  • Lead projects to enhance clinical documentation and final coding for professional and technical billing.
  • Review and approve educator work prior to distribution and calendar updates.

This position provides education and training to clinical providers, nurses and Revenue Integrity (RI) and Health Information Mangement (HIM) staff.The position is responsible for:Designing, creating and implementing educational and training curriculum to initiate new processes resulting from initiatives, coding related projects and general coding related matters driven by business needs.Creating the audit and quality reviews schedule for the fiscal year adding a contingency plan for unexpected reviews and business priorities driven by external mattersReviewing and communicating the CMS changes and their impact to RI and HIM operationsConducting monthly audits and quality reviews for providers, nurses and Revenue Integrity (RI) and Health Information Mangement (HIM) staff to identify compliance opportunities with clinical documentation and coding and charging guidelines.Leading projects aimed to review and improve the quality of the clinical documentation in the patient record and final coding for both professional and technical billing. resulting in the creation of curriculum specific to clinical services and tailor to individual stakeholders.Reviewing and approving the work completed by the Mid Revenue Cycle Coding Educators prior to distribution, implementation and educational venues update.Reviewing and approving the education and training calendar to onboard RI and HIM new team members. Position ensures the sign off of the education program as documentation for the new team member 90 days introductory period.Minimum Experience RequiredBachelor's degree plus six (6) years health care coding experience with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS.
