Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Florida, is seeking an Hospital Outpatient Coder. You will review and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance while supporting reimbursement and data quality across oncology services.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of outpatient coding experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years health care outpatient coding experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS.
  • Experience with coding oncology-related services preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competence with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of CMS guidelines and AHIMA/AAPC codes of ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • Promote provider/patient continuity and accurate database information to optimize reimbursement.
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, federal regulations, and accreditation requirements.

The Hospital Outpatient Coder promotes provider/patient continuity, accurate database information, and the ability to optimize reimbursement. (Cerner Electronic Health Record, OPTUM Enterprise Computer Assisted Coding, 3M encoder, Soarian financial billing system.)Competence with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Zoom and Outlook).Knowledge of American Healthcare Association ("AHA") coding clinic guidelines, ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines, Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") guidelines, American Health Information Management Association ("AHIMA") and American Academy of Professional Coders ("AAPC") code of ethics.Salary Range$30.47 - $46.49Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role.
