Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking a Network Communications professional to join the Global Security team. The role supports U.S.

Navy mission readiness by securing and maintaining robust LAN/WAN and VPN networks and ensuring information assurance and compliant configurations across critical training environments. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance, coordinate with Navy and DISA for implementations, and maintain detailed network documentation.

Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years with Masters; 0 years with PhD/JD; or High School Diploma and 9 years relevant experience.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting WAN/LAN equipment and circuits.
• Experience monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting ASA firewall ACLs.
• Ability to troubleshoot at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, NetFlow, logging, etc.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco networking, including IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, multicast), and Cisco IOS.
• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
• Current active DoD Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain LAN/WAN and VPNs to ensure smooth performance.
• Plan, install, configure, and reconfigure network hardware and software including routers and switches.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues including WAN circuits and firewall ACLs.
• Coordinate with Navy, DISA, and circuit providers for implementation and issue resolution.
• Maintain IA compliance, including IOS upgrades and firewall ACL verification.
• Support remote sites during outages or failures.
• Prepare and maintain network documentation and configuration records.
• Monitor network performance and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate third‑party maintenance for network equipment.
• Design network solutions to meet evolving operational needs.
• Work periodic shifts including evenings and weekends.
