Job summary

Leidos seeks a Mid-Level Test Engineer to join the Chinook Program supporting an Intelligence Community customer. You will lead test strategy across sprints, design automated/manual tests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality in rapid delivery. The role emphasizes DevSecOps, automation, and process improvement.

Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph ability is required. Primary work location is Gaithersburg, MD, with additional sites.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required per contract.
• 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
• 6+ years of software testing or quality engineering experience.
• Experience supporting Agile software development programs.
• Demonstrated experience creating and executing manual and automated test plans.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent.
• Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Experience with defect management tools such as Jira.
• Ability to communicate results and issues to technical and non-technical customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, development, and execution of comprehensive test strategies across multiple Agile sprints.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated and manual test cases for new and existing capabilities.
• Collaborate daily with software engineers, product managers, system engineers, and Scrum Masters to define acceptance criteria and ensure quality is built into every release.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate application performance, reliability, security, and usability.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution.
• Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing into deployment workflows.
• Analyze test results, communicate risks, and provide recommendations that improve software quality.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance Agile team effectiveness.
