Zusammenfassung

Mesa Associates, Inc. seeks a mid-level Substation Protection & Controls Engineering Technologist to advance their career in the electric power industry. This position supports Mesa’s Power Delivery Substation group serving clients nationwide.

Ideal candidate has 3+ years in transmission substation P&C design (12kV–230kV) and is located within commuting distance of Knoxville, TN or Chattanooga, TN. Will travel to client sites 1–2 nights monthly.

Qualifikationen

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology.
• 3+ years of transmission substation P&C design experience in the electric utility industry for 12kV–230kV.
• Located within commuting distance of Knoxville, TN or Chattanooga, TN.
• Solid understanding of protection fundamentals – CTs, VTs, differential protection, CB protection, line protection.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for designs; can provide markups with Bluebeam Revu.
• Independent problem-solver with ability to document solutions with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills to present findings to leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams.

Aufgaben

• Work on a team of drafters, designers, and engineers.
• Increase knowledge under mentorship of senior engineers.
• Create and review single-line/three-line diagrams, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics, and BoMs for medium- to large-scale projects.
• Examine drawings, specifications, and calculations to locate inconsistencies; research standards or vendor data; propose corrective actions with clear documentation, all with minimal supervision.
• Identify process bottlenecks, develop internal time-saving tools, and contribute to Mesa’s internal knowledge base.
• Ensure all deliverables meet code, client requirements, and Mesa’s internal QA procedures.
