Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Substation Protection & Controls (P&C) Engineer to advance careers in the electric power industry.

The role supports the Power Delivery Substation group across the United States, with a commuting requirement to Knoxville, TN or Chattanooga, TN. The candidate should have an ABET-accredited EE degree, 3+ years of P&C design experience, FE certification, strong problem solving, and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET Accredited).
• 3+ years of transmission substation P&C design experience (12kV–230kV).
• FE certification and willing to travel 1–2 single-night trips per month.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu for designs and markups.

Responsibilities

• Work on a team of drafters, designers, and engineers.
• Create and review single-line/three-line diagrams, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, BoMs for medium- to large-scale projects.
• Examine drawings, specifications, and calculations to locate inconsistencies; propose corrective actions with documentation.
• Identify process bottlenecks, contribute to Mesa’s internal knowledge base, and ensure deliverables meet code and client requirements.
