Job summary

Dynotec, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio seeks a mid-level Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering department. This role emphasizes design, QR, and engineering precision across diverse buildings and systems, reporting to the Structural Department Manager.

It does not require personnel management or day-to-day project leadership; instead you will verify calculations, drawings, and models, ensuring compliance with ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and TMS, while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5+ years of proven building structural design experience.
• Proficiency with Revit and leading structural analysis software (RAM, STAAD, ETABS, RISA).
• Active PE or SE registration is highly desired; DoD or water/wastewater background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design for small to mid-size projects from inception to completion.
• Participate in Quality Control / Quality Review for structural calculations, drawings and models.
• Review structural systems including foundations, slabs, lateral systems, and shear walls.
• Ensure designs comply with ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and TMS codes.
• Review and redline construction documents (drawings and specs).
• Cross-verify model fidelity in Revit and RAM/ STAAD/ ETABS/ RISA-3D.
• Mentor team on code interpretation and design procedures.
• Conduct site visits to audit conditions and approve field reports.

Position Overview

Dynotec, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering department in Columbus, Ohio. This role is uniquely structured for a dedicated technical expert; it does not require personnel management, or day-to-day project management responsibilities. Instead, this critical position focuses on design, Quality Review (QR), and ensuring engineering precision across a variety of buildings and structural systems. Reporting directly to the Structural Department Manager, you will serve as the final line of defense for engineering accuracy, safety, and compliance across a multi-market portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities

• Carry small to mid-size projects from inception to completion as the lead technical designer, and collaborate as a team player on larger design teams.
• Be a key participant in the Quality Control / Quality Review process for structural calculations, drawings and engineering models.
• Perform structural reviews of complex systems including mat foundations, deep foundations, two‑way concrete slabs, composite floors, lateral load systems, and shear walls.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and TMS codes.
• Review and redline construction documents (drawings, technical specifications).
• Cross‑verify model fidelity and detail drawings produced in Autodesk Revit and specialized analysis software (RAM, STAAD Pro, ETABS, RISA‑3D).
• Provide expert mentorship on technical code interpretation and design procedures directly to the design team.
• Conduct critical site visits to audit structural conditions and approve formal field observation reports.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of proven building structural design experience.
• Technical Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Concrete, Structural Steel, Masonry, multi‑story design.
• Software Literacy: High familiarity with Revit and leading structural analysis programs (RAM, STAAD, ETABS, RISA).
• Preferred Assets: Active Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration is highly desired; Federal and/or Water/Wastewater background is a major plus.
