Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Mid-Level Structural (Buildings) Engineer to support the Federal Programs Team across multiple U.S. locations, including Virginia Beach, VA, with primary work in building design and construction-phase support.

You will lead portions of structural design, perform analyses, prepare drawings and calculations, coordinate with architectural and civil disciplines, and mentor junior staff, while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of post-education experience in the analysis and design of building structures.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Proficient knowledge of structural building codes, design standards, and structural engineering principles.
  • Proficient knowledge of structural design and modeling software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RISA-3D, RAM Concept, SAFE, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with engineering and non-engineering team members.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform structural analysis and design of new and existing buildings, including gravity and lateral systems, foundations, and structural components.
  • Develop structural drawings, specifications, calculations, and design documentation.
  • Perform engineering calculations and use software to evaluate building loads and design structural members and connections.
  • Coordinate structural requirements with architectural, civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection disciplines.
  • Lead or support site visits and construction-phase services, documenting conditions and progress, and ensuring safety compliance.
