Position Overview

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer (mechanical design engineers) to join the Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) engineering design team in Hazelwood, MO, supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Air Dominance/Phantom Works Programs. This team designs a wide range of airframe and subsystem GSE, including equipment handling, testing, and repair, interfacing with various systems such as airframe/structure, hydraulics, flight controls, and more.

This role involves providing input, guidance, development, and analysis of mechanical GSE, primarily supporting Phantom Works and potentially other military aircraft platforms like F-15, F/A-18, T-7, MQ-25, and AAS. The work environment is an office setting with occasional visits to suppliers for tests.

Responsibilities

  • Support proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
  • Train and coach team members.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Develop 3-D models, designs, drawings, and modifications for mechanical GSE.
  • Coordinate with air vehicle teams on support equipment interfaces.
  • Make engineering recommendations based on analysis and safety considerations.
  • Participate in peer reviews and design reviews.
  • Evaluate supplier hardware non-conformances and material substitutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Higher degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Understanding of materials and properties.
  • Familiarity with mechanical support equipment and fabrication methods.
  • Knowledge of mechanism design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.

Additional Info

  • This position is onsite at Hazelwood, MO or Berkeley, MO.
  • Requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Person status.
