Job summary

Amentum in Huntsville, AL is seeking a personnel security investigator to support FBI background investigations and security clearance processing. The role includes reviewing questionnaires, conducting background interviews, and preparing detailed reports with recommendations.

Candidates must hold an active Top Secret clearance with 7+ years of relevant experience (or 9 years with an Associate’s); strong Microsoft Office skills; and excellent written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret US Government Clearance required (US Citizenship required).
• 7 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 9 years with an Associate’s Degree in personnel security investigations or investigative analysis.
• Experience interpreting government and commercial database checks to identify concerns during investigations.
• Experience analyzing investigative reports to identify security vulnerabilities and develop leads.

Responsibilities

• Review SF-86 and SF-85P questionnaires and verify information submitted.
• Conduct security interviews and prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
• Prepare summaries of investigation results and support adjudication decisions.
• Prioritize assignments and manage schedules to meet deadlines.
• Use advanced interview skills to obtain in-depth background information.
• Perform multiple administrative tasks related to databases, filing, and audits.
