Job summary

Josh Pros LLC in Portsmouth, VA is seeking a Mid Level Estimator for heavy industrial maritime manufacturing and shipbuilding. You will analyze RFQs, drawings, and specs to develop accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and fabrication on maritime vessels and components.

You will collaborate with engineering, project management, and procurement, assess risks, stay current with FAR/DFARS, and present bid packages to senior management.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in heavy industrial maritime manufacturing or shipbuilding on the machining side.
• Familiarity with maritime construction projects including commercial and military vessels.
• Knowledge of FAR, DFARS and federal contracting processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specs.
• Ability to estimate material, labor and equipment for RFQs.
• Knowledge of market labor and material trends in maritime industry.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams including engineering, project management, finance, procurement and HR.
• Strong communication skills and risk assessment capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate RFQs, drawings and specs to understand project requirements for maritime manufacturing projects.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management and procurement to ensure accurate, competitive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and fabrication for maritime vessels and components.
• Assess potential risks and incorporate risk mitigation into cost estimates.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes impacting cost estimates.
• Present detailed bid packages to senior management.
• Attend post-award reviews to refine estimating practices based on outcomes.
• Communicate with customers during bidding to clarify project specs as needed.
