Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie Group is seeking a professional to support and grow our US Export Controls, Tariffs, and CFIUS practice from our Washington, DC office. Fluency in Mandarin is a plus, and experience with BIS, DDTC, and customs law is required or preferred depending on the role.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of BIS and DDTC regimes, U.S. CBP entry/classification/valuation, and related sanctions regimes.

Qualifications

• Experience with export controls administered by BIS and DDTC.
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection processes: entry, classification, valuation.

Overview

• The role involves supporting and expanding the US Export Controls, Tariffs, and CFIUS practice.
• Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese is considered a plus.
• Required experience includes specific subject matter areas: export controls administered by the Bureau of Industry and Security and the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, and/or customs law, including entry, classification, valuation, and other matters within the jurisdiction of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
• Preferred additional experience includes economic sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control and/or trade remedy investigations under U.S. antidumping, countervailing duty, and safeguard laws.
