Job summary

GDH is seeking a Mid-Level Geospatial Engineer to support enterprise geospatial systems in a mission-critical environment. You will help develop, maintain, and securely deploy geospatial applications and data services, working with cybersecurity, platform engineering, and operations teams.

This fully remote role requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or equivalent, Python and PostgreSQL experience, and ArcGIS Data Store familiarity.

Qualifications

• Requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or equivalent (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)
• Strong Python and PostgreSQL skills with experience in geospatial data management
• Experience with ArcGIS Data Store or similar GIS data management tools
• Familiarity with DevSecOps environments and implementation of secure geospatial solutions
• Ability to use enterprise tools for task/issue/dependency tracking (Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow) and manage RBAC processes

Responsibilities

• Support review and validation of geospatial deliverables (web maps, spatial analyses, geoprocessing tools)
• Translate business needs into technical GIS specifications
• Provide technical support on geospatial deployment and issues to internal teams and contractors
• Contribute to integration of geospatial apps within DevSecOps environments
• Develop migration docs, onboarding checklists, and SOPs for geospatial deployments
• Maintain metadata standards, schemas, and data quality for geospatial datasets
• Evaluate GIS environments against performance, security, and technical standards
• Support monitoring, reporting, and documentation of geospatial data pipelines
• Review system architectures for alignment with technical and security requirements

Role Summary

The Mid-Level Geospatial Engineer supports enterprise geospatial systems and data within a complex, mission-critical technology environment. This role assists with the development, maintenance, evaluation, and secure deployment of geospatial applications and data services. The position works collaboratively with technical, cybersecurity, platform engineering, and operational teams to support reliable and secure geospatial solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support the review and validation of geospatial deliverables, including web maps, spatial analyses, and geoprocessing tools developed by vendors or contractors.
• Assist in translating business and operational requirements into technical specifications for GIS solutions and applications.
• Provide technical support to internal teams, cybersecurity teams, and external contractors regarding geospatial software deployment and related technical issues.
• Contribute to the integration of geospatial applications within modern DevSecOps environments.
• Develop and maintain migration documentation, onboarding checklists, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with platform engineering teams to establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for deploying geospatial software.
• Maintain metadata standards, schema baselines, and data quality guidelines for geospatial datasets.
• Participate in evaluating GIS environments for alignment with established performance, technical, and security standards.
• Support monitoring, reporting, and documentation activities related to geospatial systems and data pipelines.
• Review proposed system architectures to support alignment with established technical and security requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6 to 9 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP, as applicable to the position.
• Working knowledge of Python programming.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database technologies.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS Data Store or comparable GIS data management tools.
• Understanding of system lifecycle processes, infrastructure engineering, and configuration management baselines.
• Experience using enterprise tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow for task, issue, and dependency tracking.
• Ability to complete required privileged-user access and role-based access control (RBAC) processes applicable to the position.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination.

Publishing Pay Range

USD $95,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 Annually

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
