Job summary

GDH is seeking a Mid-Level Geospatial Engineer to support enterprise geospatial systems and data in a mission-critical technology environment. You will help develop, maintain, evaluate, and securely deploy geospatial applications and data services, collaborating with cybersecurity, platform engineering, and operations teams.

This fully remote role requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, Python, PostgreSQL, and ArcGIS Data Store experience, with RBAC and DevSecOps integration, and the

Qualifications

• 6–9 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification such as Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND or SSCP.
• Working knowledge of Python programming.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database technologies.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS Data Store or comparable GIS data management tools.
• Understanding of system lifecycle processes, infrastructure engineering, and configuration management baselines.
• Experience using enterprise tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow for task, issue, and dependency tracking.
• Ability to complete required privileged-user access and RBAC processes.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate geospatial deliverables (web maps, analyses, geoprocessing tools).
• Translate business requirements into technical GIS specs.
• Provide technical support on geospatial software deployment and issues.
• Contribute to integrating geospatial apps in DevSecOps environments.
• Develop and maintain migration docs, onboarding checklists, SOPs.

Role Summary

The Mid-Level Geospatial Engineer supports enterprise geospatial systems and data within a complex, mission-critical technology environment. This role assists with the development, maintenance, evaluation, and secure deployment of geospatial applications and data services. The position works collaboratively with technical, cybersecurity, platform engineering, and operational teams to support reliable and secure geospatial solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support the review and validation of geospatial deliverables, including web maps, spatial analyses, and geoprocessing tools developed by vendors or contractors.
• Assist in translating business and operational requirements into technical specifications for GIS solutions and applications.
• Provide technical support to internal teams, cybersecurity teams, and external contractors regarding geospatial software deployment and related technical issues.
• Contribute to the integration of geospatial applications within modern DevSecOps environments.
• Develop and maintain migration documentation, onboarding checklists, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with platform engineering teams to establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for deploying geospatial software.
• Maintain metadata standards, schema baselines, and data quality guidelines for geospatial datasets.
• Participate in evaluating GIS environments for alignment with established performance, technical, and security standards.
• Support monitoring, reporting, and documentation activities related to geospatial systems and data pipelines.
• Review proposed system architectures to support alignment with established technical and security requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6 to 9 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP, as applicable to the position.

Publishing Pay Range: USD $95,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 Annually

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
