Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Tampa, FL is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to perform routine and complex preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools and work with customers to determine the nature of the issue. The role offers a Tuesday–Saturday schedule with competitive hourly pay and a robust benefits package after 30 days, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k) match, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification or Post Secondary degree preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Two years of training/experience in mechanical repair preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and road test.
• Background and motor vehicle check required for last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Inspects and repairs standard components.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical/electrical issues using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root cause and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to clarify the issue.
