This is a remote position; however, the candidate must reside within 30 miles of one of the following locations: Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; and Portland, ME.

About the team/role

As a Software Engineer, you will join the Integrated Engineering team within the Energy Transition domain (Electric Vehicles), focusing on full stack development, integrations, and API suite. U.S. citizenship is required.

You will be responsible for developing with quality, DevOps, and agile practices in mind, enabling the team to handle a broad range of tasks throughout the software development lifecycle.

How you'll make an impact

• Focus on backend development, including integrations and API suite.
• Partner with stakeholders, solutions architects, and product managers to understand requirements and priorities.
• Write efficient, scalable, and high-quality code.
• Manage production on-call support, including incident triage, RCAs, troubleshooting, and code fixes.
• Promote continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, metrics, and best practices.
• Drive test-driven development and take responsibility for various stages of the software development lifecycle.

Experience you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with backend services, APIs, data processing, and web applications (Spring Boot, GraphQL, REST).
• Experience designing and developing event-driven microservices architecture.
• Strong skills in data engineering, ingestion, storage, and processing (SQL, Postgres, Liquibase).
• Production on-call support experience.
• Demonstrable CI/CD experience with DevOps exposure.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Passion for automation and continuous improvement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Plus

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with system design.
• Knowledge of electric vehicle charging data and protocols (e.g., OCPI, OCPP).
• Experience with AWS cloud services.
