Job summary

SOCOTEC US seeks a seasoned leader to launch and grow the Fire Protection Engineering division in the Mid-Atlantic, ideally in the Washington DC metro. This role blends technical fire protection expertise with business acumen to build a team, establish processes, and drive client growth.

You will own P&L, ensure safety and quality, and position SOCOTEC as a market leader through key client relationships and industry involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• PE license in Fire Protection Engineering or ability to obtain.
• 7–10 years in fire protection engineering with leadership experience.
• Proven business development and client-relationship skills.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute Mid-Atlantic market entry and growth strategy for SLS.
• Develop and execute a market-specific growth plan for the SLS Service Line.
• Drive market penetration and revenue growth by securing new client opportunities.
• Build and sustain senior client relationships with key clients, owners, developers, and contractors.
• Drive cross-selling of SOCOTEC's offerings with other units in the region.
• Establish and nurture long-term client partnerships to anticipate needs.
• Serve as primary contact for major clients within the local area for the Service Line.
• Represent SOCOTEC as a market leader through industry involvement and thought leadership.
• Oversee projects from inception to completion; manage budgets, timelines, and quality.
• Stay current with fire protection codes and technologies; guide the team accordingly.
• Ensure all projects comply with codes, safety regulations, and high standards.
• Own full P&L for the Service Line; manage budgeting, forecasting, margins, cash flow.
• Set up scalable operational processes, quality, and safety protocols.
• Implement KPIs and performance metrics; drive accountability and improvement.
• Manage project execution, resource allocation, billing, and collections.
• Build and lead a high-performing team of engineers, designers, and admins.
• Recruit, develop, and mentor staff; set clear goals and alignment with targets.
• Foster a hands-on leadership culture focused on collaboration and excellence.
