Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System is seeking a Nurse Coordinator II for the Medical ICU. This exempt, full-time role leads nursing staff, oversees patient care, budgets, and quality/service delivery in a level one ICU.

The incumbent will supervise clinical operations, participate in hiring/training, ensure credentialing, and coordinate with related departments to uphold patient safety and care standards.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required; provide official transcripts at interview

Responsibilities

• Oversee patient care in the Medical ICU on a 24-hour basis, directing and supervising nursing staff
• Serve as day-to-day manager for nursing staff within a level-one ICU or designated patient population
• Develop operating plans, staffing schedules, and ensure adherence to standards of care and regulatory requirements
• Hire, train, and evaluate unit staff; drive performance and quality improvement initiatives
• Manage unit budgets and collaborate with Labor Relations on collective bargaining matters
• Coordinate with ancillary services to ensure continuity of patient care and equipment maintenance
