Job summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking an HS Research Tech 3 in Albuquerque, NM, to support the Microsurgery Lab. You will teach graduates, coordinate complex experiments, analyze data, and ensure safe lab practices within a health sciences setting.

Responsibilities include leading setup and QC of experiments, training staff, maintaining equipment, and contributing to protocol development; candidate should have strong lab management, surgical, and microscopy experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Animal handling experience (rats).
  • Drug injection experience.
  • Microscopy experience.
  • Surgical experience.
  • Lab management skills.
  • Familiarity with orthopedics.
  • Ability to use Topaz system protocol for managing Microsurgery animal laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the setup, execution, and quality control of routine to complex scientific experiments, tests, and/or field studies.
  • Independently compiles, manipulates, and analyzes research data and prepares preliminary reports and interpretations.
  • Selects, modifies, and/or adapts equipment or procedures to project requirements.
  • Participates in development/co-ordination of research and/or data analysis protocols.
  • Oversees and coordinates the utilization and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Teaches, instructs, and updates others in laboratory techniques and equipment usage.
  • May provide direction to consultants and lower level technicians.
  • Practices safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties.
