Job summary

The Application Systems Engineer at HCRS (Health Care & Rehabilitation Services of Southeastern Vermont) is a Microsoft systems administrator responsible for the reliable operation of cloud services, Windows infrastructure, and enterprise applications. The role emphasizes cloud-first strategy, automation, and strong security practices to support clinical and administrative teams.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of Microsoft systems administration or related role.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Windows devices.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and hybrid environments.
• Experience with SQL Server administration (backup/restore, maintenance, monitoring).
• PowerShell scripting or automation to create repeatable processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, testing, change management skills.
• Knowledge of identity, endpoint, and data security practices (RBAC, least privilege).
• Excellent communication across technical and nontechnical teams.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
• Manage users, licensing, roles, apps, access controls, and service administration.
• Implement MFA, Conditional Access, privileged access controls.
• Support Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and hybrid environments.
• Support Azure administration, cloud infrastructure, service health, licensing, and cloud-first initiatives.
• Develop PowerShell scripts for automation and onboarding/offboarding.
• Establish governance and lifecycle standards for automation and Power Platform solutions.
• Collaborate with clinical, quality, finance, HR, leadership, vendors, and IT colleagues to translate needs into secure solutions.
• Support healthcare systems such as Credible or comparable platforms.

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
