Job summary

North Carolina Department of Information Technology is seeking an Applications Systems Specialist I (NS) to serve as a lead SME for the Microsoft 365 service within NCDIT and other Executive agencies. The role designs, implements, and provides advanced support for M365 services, aligning with state policies and security baselines.

The position involves high‑level problem solving, deployment planning, and coordination with agencies before and during project activity, ensuring service availability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field and four years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development.
• Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field and five years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development.
• High School or GED and eight years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead SME and product specialist for the Microsoft 365 service within NCDIT and other Executive agencies.
• Design, implement, and provide advanced support for services deployed on M365 platforms by NCDIT.
• Understand the M365 roadmap and align with North Carolina state policies and security guidelines.
• Provide consulting to other State M365 Tenants on security and configuration baselines.
• Perform high‑level troubleshooting of complex M365 issues.
• Participate on project teams focusing on Microsoft365 infrastructure deployments.
