Job summary

The City of Durango’s IT Department seeks a Systems Engineer – Microsoft/Cybersecurity to administer and improve enterprise systems, with a focus on Microsoft 365 and cybersecurity. You’ll manage Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, while strengthening security and supporting city operations.

In this role you’ll work with staff, vendors, and IT colleagues, participate in budgeting and projects, and contribute to continuous system improvements while on-call as

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of increasingly responsible experience in IT support and systems.
• A+ or Network+ certification.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, AD, Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and PowerShell.
• Ability to obtain Security+ certification within 12 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, and Entra ID.
• Support cybersecurity including firewalls, email security, and data protection.
• Assist with security policies, training, and on-call rotation.
• Coordinate with staff, vendors, and IT colleagues to improve systems.
• Manage intranets, websites, and internal IT communications.
• Participate in technology budgeting, projects, and procurement.
