Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an early to mid-career power-systems engineer to lead the design, integration, commissioning, and demonstration of resilient microgrids and distributed power systems. This hands-on role involves lab, field, and customer-site work with energy storage, inverters, generators, transformers, protection relays, and control hardware.

You will develop test plans, perform studies, validate designs using RTDS and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and communicate results

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2+ years of relevant professional experience for Level 2; 5+ years for Level 3.

Responsibilities

• Apply power-systems engineering principles to design, analysis, integration, and operation of microgrids and distributed power systems.
• Provide independent technical leadership across the lifecycle of power-system solutions.
• Develop, implement, and validate microgrid control, measurement, automation, protection, and operating strategies.
• Lead hands-on laboratory, field, and customer-site work including configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Travel to customer and partner sites as required to support validation and demonstrations.
• Communicate methods, results, and recommendations through reports, presentations, and sponsor briefings.
