Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Charlotte to perform microbio testing and ensure specimen integrity. You will document results in the EMR, participate in QC activities, and support regulatory compliance.

The role includes training colleagues and contributing to process improvements, with a 40-hour workweek and 2nd shift responsibilities. MLS/ASCP certification within one year is expected.

Qualifications

• MLS (ASCP) acceptable; M(ASCP) preferred.
• B.A./B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Must obtain MLS(ASCP) or M(ASCP) certification within one year of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiology testing (bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology) with high quality.
• Maintain specimen integrity through all testing phases.
• Record results accurately in the EMR.
• Participate in QC processes and regulatory compliance.
• Train other staff and students; support new technology transfers.
