Job summary

Mérieux NutriSciences is seeking a Microbiology Technician to support daily lab operations in Salida, CA. The role involves preparing samples, labeling and tracking via client/sample numbers, and performing analyses with strict adherence to safety procedures.

You will handle plate preparation, incubation, housekeeping, and data entry in the LIMS, contributing to accurate pathogen testing results and quality improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work in a science/quality environment.
• Basic knowledge of computers to accurately enter testing data and results.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies for a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Label plates with client/sample numbers for traceability.
• Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to analysis procedures.
• Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate growth processes.
• Place plates in incubator at specified times and temperatures.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to determine organisms present in samples.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes in the lab.
