Sirius Staffing is seeking a Microbiology Technician to work on the 2nd shift in the Birmingham, AL area. This position requires a strong background in microbiology, as well as experience working in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or similar regulated environment.

Pay: $29/hr + benefits + PTO and Holiday Pay
Schedule: 2nd shift; hours are Monday - Friday, 3 pm – 12 am
Responsibilities:
- Monitor classified areas using active/passive air sampling, RODAC/swab surface sampling, and CliMet air sampling for bacteria, fungi, and total particulates.
- Analyze trends to detect anomalies and characterize transient and resident microflora.
Utilities Testing:
- Test city water for microbial counts and absence of enteric organisms.
- Analyze pre-treated water, clean steam, and Water for Injection (WFI) for microbial count and endotoxins.
- Assess nitrogen and process air for microbial count and particulates.
Microbiological Testing & Validation:
- Identify microorganisms using classical microbiological methods.
- Perform validation activities, including biological indicator recovery, bioburden testing, endotoxin rinse, and challenge vial testing.
- Enter and analyze data using Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS).
GMP Compliance & Documentation:
- Document test results and conclusions following GMP standards.
- Ensure test forms are complete before submission for approval.
- Follow all safety, health, and environmental policies, procedures, and directives.
- Conduct laboratory activities safely, using MSDS to identify chemical hazards, observing proper procedures, and reporting incidents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biological sciences, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories.
- Experience in microbiological assays and testing.
- Desired experience in environmental monitoring and trending.
- Desired experience in utilities testing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in GLPs and GMPs.
- Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheets and databases.
- Ability to use a respirator.
- Ability to work with microorganisms and hot liquids.
